Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27. Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30. Shoppers will open ten tabs, compare sale prices, and leave the cart that does not make the deal obvious.
A crossed-out compare-at price is easy to miss in a crowded product page. A line that says You saved $42.00 (30%) is not. That is what Discount Saved Message does. It reads the discounts you already run in Shopify and writes the savings in plain language on the product page, the cart, checkout, and the thank you page.
It does not create discount codes. Set your Black Friday prices, automatic discounts, and codes in Shopify as usual. The app only displays the difference so the shopper can see it.
Why this app fits BFCM better than a theme banner
A homepage banner says the sale is on. It does not tell the shopper what this hoodie, in this size, just saved them. Discount Saved Message updates when the variant changes, so a 20% tee and a 40% jacket do not share one generic line.
The plan that keeps the deal visible
Basic is $2 a month and covers the product page: message text, percent or amount, placement, shake animation, and dropping the decimal. That is enough for a small catalog sale.
For Black Friday, use Pro at $5.99 a month. Cart, checkout, and thank you are where shoppers hesitate. Pro is also the plan that unlocks message templates and bordered box styling, so the sale line looks intentional instead of a default sentence. Both paid plans include a 5-day free trial. Turn Pro on a week before the sale so you can preview the theme embed, the cart block, and the checkout extension while traffic is still normal.
What to show at each step
Product page — name the deal on the variant they picked
Use message type Both during BFCM. A dollar amount feels concrete. A percent feels like a sale. Together they read as You saved $18.00 (25%). Place the message above or below Add to cart. If several variants have different compare-at prices, the line updates when the shopper changes size or color.
Cart — total the win before they leave
Enable cart savings in Settings, then let the app place the message above cart items, or add the Cart savings block from the theme editor (Add section → Apps, or under Subtotal → Add block → Apps). The cart template also applies to the cart drawer. A useful BFCM line is a total plus a link back to the sale collection, for example a “Browse sale” link. HTML links work on the product page and cart. They are stripped on checkout.
Checkout — one plain sentence while they pay
Enable checkout savings, then add Discount Saved Checkout in the checkout editor after the cart lines. Checkout uses Shopify’s own UI. You can set the text, choose percent, amount, or both, drop decimals, align the line, and turn on Shopify’s default bordered box. Custom colors, fonts, margins, and HTML do not apply there. Write a short sentence such as You saved {{ amount_or_percentage }} on this order.
Thank you — confirm they made a good call
On the thank you page you can place the block in Main, in the order summary after cart lines, or after customer information. The same block also works on the order status page. Center alignment is available, and the message stays intact on orders with many lines. This is the moment that makes the discount feel earned, which helps the next email and the next visit.
Four templates that suit a sale weekend
Open Settings → Product page or Cart page → Message templates, apply a design, then edit the words if you want. Full notes on every design are in Best discount message templates. For BFCM, start with one of these:
- Today Only — warm amber badge. Product copy: “Today's deal: save {{ amount }} ({{ percentage }})”. Cart: “Today's savings: {{ amount_or_percentage }} on this cart — don't miss out”.
- Bold Savings — dark green, white text. Product: “Save {{ amount }} today — {{ percentage }} off”. Cart: “You're saving {{ amount_or_percentage }} — checkout now”.
- Celebration Banner — pale green bar with a party emoji and, on the cart, a link back to the sale collection.
- Checkout Nudge — a pill on the cart that says “Don't leave {{ amount_or_percentage }} behind — complete your order”.
Use the same idea on checkout in plain text. The colored badge stays on the product page and cart, where custom styling is allowed.
Set it up before November 27
Put the sale in Shopify first
Compare-at prices, automatic discounts, or codes. The app has nothing to display until those exist. Preview a product that is actually on sale.
Install and turn on the app embed
Install Discount Saved Message, open the theme editor, and enable the Discount saved message app embed. Save the theme.
Upgrade to Pro and apply a template
On the product tab, choose Both, apply Today Only or Bold Savings, and save. On the cart tab, apply Checkout Nudge or Celebration Banner so the drawer and the cart page match the sale.
Turn on cart, checkout, and thank you
Each page has its own switch and its own sentence. Add the checkout extension on checkout and again on the thank you page. Place it where shoppers already look: after cart lines is the safest thank-you spot.
Walk the store like a shopper
Change a variant. Open the cart drawer. Apply the BFCM code. Finish a test order. Confirm the number on the product, the cart total, checkout, and the thank you page all describe the same saving.
Tokens to paste exactly
Keep the braces and the spaces. The app replaces them when the page renders.
{{ amount }}— the money saved, in the store currency.{{ percentage }}— the percent saved.{{ amount_or_percentage }}— follows the message type you selected (percent, amount, or both).
Turn on “Remove decimal” if you want $18 instead of $18.00 during a loud sale. Leave decimals on for higher-priced catalogs where cents matter.
Two limits to know before the rush
- Checkout and thank you stay plain. Colors and HTML from a template do not carry into checkout. Set a short plain-text line on those tabs.
- One saving per cart line. If Shopify already applied a line discount, the cart total uses that discount. Compare-at is used on lines that do not already have a line discount. The app does not add both on the same line.
After the weekend
Switch the cart template from Checkout Nudge back to Minimal Clean or your usual message so “today only” does not linger into December. Pro analytics shows whether shoppers actually saw the widget during the sale. Pair that with Shopify Analytics for sessions and orders — the app reports the message, not your whole store.
Have the savings line live before Black Friday
Pro is $5.99 a month with a 5-day free trial. Product, cart, checkout, thank you, and message templates.
