When a customer picks a delivery date, Order Delivery Date Lite can add that date as a tag on the Shopify order. Until now the date tag always started with DD:, for example DD:03/11/2026. Some fulfillment tools cannot read a tag with that prefix.
You can now set the prefix yourself. Leave the field blank and new orders are tagged with the date only.
Existing stores are unchanged. The prefix stays DD: until you edit it. Orders that already have a tag are not rewritten.
Three ways to tag the date
Where to change it
- Open Order Delivery Date Lite in Shopify admin.
- Go to Settings → Cart (Shipping) → Cart Behavior → Order tags.
- Turn on Add delivery tags to Shopify orders and Include delivery/pickup date in the tag.
- Edit Date tag prefix. The example under the field updates as you type.
- Save. The next order that includes a delivery date gets the new tag.
The date in the tag follows the date format you already set in the app, such as DD/MM/YYYY or MM/DD/YYYY. Commas are removed from the prefix so one value cannot split into extra tags.
Why fulfillment teams ask for this
Many warehouses and 3PLs sort orders by a date tag. A prefix like DD: is useful inside Shopify, because it is easy to tell the date tag apart from other tags. It gets in the way when the other system expects the tag to be a date and nothing else.
Clear the prefix if your provider needs the date alone. Keep DD: if you, or an automation you already built, search for that exact tag. You can also set a word your team already uses, such as Ship .
What does not change
- Tags are added to new orders. Older orders keep the tags they already have.
- Time slot tags stay DT: and method tags stay DM: when those options are enabled.
- The delivery date is still saved on the order as well as the tag. The tag is an extra label for filtering and fulfillment.
- Order tags need the app’s permission to write orders. If tags never appear, re-open the app and accept the updated permissions.
Frequently asked questions
Will my current DD: tags stop working?
No. Every store keeps DD: until someone clears or edits Date tag prefix.
Can I use the date only?
Yes. Delete the text in Date tag prefix and save. A new order tagged for 3 November 2026, in DD/MM/YYYY, is tagged 03/11/2026.
Does this change the cart or product page calendar?
No. It only changes the tag written when an order is created. The product page calendar and the cart calendar are separate settings.
Set the tag your fulfillment team can read
Keep DD:, write your own prefix, or use the date by itself.
