How to Add Reorder on Shopify's New Customer Accounts

Shopify's new customer accounts do not use the old customers/account.liquid and customers/order.liquid templates. A reorder button that was injected next to /account/orders links simply never appears. Customers still want to buy the same products again. The button has to live inside the new account pages instead.

Reorderify now does that with customer-account extensions, plus a thank-you card after checkout. Classic stores keep the theme app embed. The settings screen is split so you only edit the account type your store actually uses.

Where the reorder button shows

1. Orders list

A Quick Reorder block on the orders index, aimed at the customer's most recent order. This is the page people open when they already know they want the same thing again.

2. The order menu

A Reorder action in the order menu. It opens a list of that order's items so the customer can change quantities, leave items out, or add everything that is still in stock.

3. Order status

An inline reorder block on the order status page, which is where customers land when they follow a shipping email.

4. Thank-you page

A reorder card on the order confirmation page, right after checkout, while the customer is still in a buying mood.

On the New Customer account tab, Where to show the Reorder block is Both pages (orders list and order status), orders list only, order status only, or disabled. Two more switches, under Page visibility, allow the thank-you block and the order status block. You still add each block in the checkout editor.

Review the order, or add everything

Two reorder modes are on the New Customer account tab:

After the items are in the cart, you choose whether the customer lands on the cart or goes straight to checkout. Current prices are shown in the list, including a crossed-out compare-at price when the item is on sale. Sold-out variants are blocked when inventory checking is on.

Line-item options stay on the new cart line

Engraving, gift notes, and other line-item properties are easy to lose on a reorder. Reorderify copies the original line-item options onto the new cart line, including properties that are hidden from the customer. Turn that off only if you want a clean line with no past notes.

On Online Store 2.0 themes, adding to the cart also refreshes the theme cart drawer and the header count. Stores with a custom drawer can listen for the reorderify:cart:add event.

Turn it on

1

Confirm the account type

Reorderify reads whether the store uses new or classic customer accounts. New accounts open the New Customer account tab. Classic accounts use the Legacy customer account tab and the theme app embed.

2

Add the blocks in the checkout editor

On the order list editor, add the Quick Reorder block. Each order also gets Reorder in its menu. On the order status editor, add Reorderify – Order status. On the thank-you editor, add Reorderify Thank You, and turn on the thank-you switch in Page visibility. Save each editor page.

3

Place a test reorder

Log in with a customer who has an order. Open the orders list, the order itself, and a fresh thank-you page. Confirm the items, quantities, and any line-item properties land in the cart.

What stays on classic accounts

Stores that have not upgraded still use the theme app embed. Reorderify looks for account and order links in the theme and adds the button there, including the classic thank-you page. Those controls live on the legacy tab and are not used by the new customer accounts extension.

If you also email past buyers, the next step is sending reorder events into Klaviyo. That setup is in Connect Reorderify to Klaviyo.
